I hate when people assign these bizarre human qualities to inert objects. For instance, I used to have this boyfriend who would say about New York, "This town will eat you alive" or "This city is really hard on people." Uh, it's a PLACE f'cris'sakes, it's not capable of being hard or easy or soft or fuzzy. However, the term "Hollywood" is used here to denote the studio system that has practically taken over the lives of many Americans. You know, most people don't know what the state capitals are (I don't either), yet I bet many of us can intelligently discuss tracking shots, or CGI, or how much is being spent on the new Godzilla flick.So when I say "Hollywood," I'm not talking about a place, per se, but that glimmering tower of insanity that actually
only exists within the minds of those who imbue it with such power.
